Who is behind the project and what they have built.
About
Alirex (Aleksandr Sizov): a software architect, tech lead and backend / full-stack engineer with 10+ years in IT. I build with Python, Rust and Vue, care about code quality (linters, type checkers, pre-commit hooks) and write small tools that take repeated work off my hands. I have rewritten whole projects (Python 2 to 3, PHP to Python, Python to Rust), designed architectures for startups and a cybersecurity platform, and deploy on my own servers with Docker and Proxmox. I also teach: 8 years of courses and mentoring. Currently studying for a master's degree in Software Engineering and AI at Neoversity.
Selected work
-
CryEye (opens in a new tab) Platform
A cloud platform for continuous security auditing: penetration testing, source code, mobile and infrastructure scanning, breach detection and more.
One of my biggest projects (2018β2025, with CQR). I developed the core of the platform, integrated and automated pentesting tools, made architecture decisions and later integrated AI-based tools.

User journey platform Platform
A platform for configuring user journey scenarios in the finance sector.
Built with Python: scenarios are configured, not hard-coded. A client project, so the product name and the code are not public.

uv_upgrade (opens in a new tab) CLI tool
Upgrades dependency versions in the pyproject.toml files of uv projects. On PyPI as uv-upx.
Run it in a project and it bumps the versions in every pyproject.toml, so upgrades stop being manual work.

path_as_uri (opens in a new tab) Rust crate
A Rust crate that turns a file path into a URI you can click in the terminal.
Gives an absolute path as a file:// URI with the right escaping, so terminals make it clickable.
- Rust
- License: ISC
Install:
cargo add path_as_uri -
app_root_folder (opens in a new tab) Rust crate
A Rust crate that finds the app's root folder, like BASE_DIR in Python projects.
Finds the root by the executable's folder and skips cargo's target/debug, so the same code works in development and in release.
- Rust
- License: ISC
Install:
cargo add app_root_folder -
rust_crate_to_workspace (opens in a new tab) Script
A Bash script that turns a single Rust crate into a Cargo workspace.
Run it in a clean git repository: it moves the crate into a members folder and writes the workspace Cargo.toml.

pre-commit-just (opens in a new tab) Git hook
A pre-commit hook that formats justfiles with just --fmt (my fork, with my own changes).
Runs on every justfile and *.just module, fixes them in place and fails on a file just cannot parse; works with pre-commit and prek.
